BCA ERSS Submission

All excavation works exceeding 1.Sm in depth is required to be submitted to the authority. This is to ensure adequate supports call the temporary
works are in place to prevent earth movement due to excavation.

Temporary works design is also know as Geotechnical Building Works (GBW) if the works consist making a tunnel of height or width of more
than 2m. Excavation more than Gm to construct or do repair works or to construct a stabilising slope of more than Gm is considered as GBW.
Foundation for building of 30 o more stories is also considered as a GBW works.

1. Excavation less than 4m from ground requires only one Professional Engineers to design and submit.
2. Excavation more than 4m and less than Gm w ill require one Professional Engineer and One Accredited Checker.
3. Excavation more than Gm but not associated as a GBW will require one Professional Engineer (Geotechnical) and one Accredited Checker (Geotechnical).
4. Excavation more than Gm and is associated as a GBW will require one Professional Engineer (Geotechnical) and one Accredited Checker
   (Geotechnical) together with one ST Professional Engineer and One ST Accredited Checker.

Our scope of works includes, but is not limited to:

• Review of project requirements, site conditions, and soil investigation reports
• Design and analysis of ERSS systems (e.g. sheet piles, contiguous bored piles, diaphragm walls,
  strutting systems)
• Preparation of ERSS design calculations and drawings
• Coordination with Qualified Persons (QP), Accredited Checkers (AC), and other consultants
• Submission of ERSS documents to BCA and relevant authorities
• Addressing authority comments and resubmission until approval

• ERSS design drawings
• Design calculations and technical reports
• Authority submission documents
• Approved ERSS clearance / permits (subject to authority approval)

To proceed with the ERSS submission, the following information is typically required:

• Project details and site location plan
• Soil investigation (SI) report
• Proposed excavation depth and sequence
• Adjacent building and site constraint information
• Architectural and structural drawings (if available)
• Construction programme

• Design development and document preparation: 2–4 weeks
• Authority submission and review: subject to BCA and authority processing time
• Approval timeline: varies depending on project complexity and authority comments
